Aggressive Style. Friendly Function.
The bold design of the IS headlamps can't help but attract attention. Except in this case. To help provide added visibility for drivers, even those not in an IS, available intelligent high-beam headlamps [*] offer added illumination when the road ahead is clear and temporarily switch to low-beam when they sense another vehicle ahead.

Another Way It Sends A Signal.
Lane Departure Alert. When the system is activated, available Lane Departure Alert [*] is designed to read the road's lane markings and alert you with audible and visual warnings if you begin to veer.

*Lane Departure Alert is designed to read lane markers under certain conditions and provide visual and audible alerts when lane departure is detected. It is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving. Effectiveness depends on many factors. See Owner's Manual for more information.

Passive Safety
While an ordinary crash-test dummy can provide 119 data points, Lexus uses digital models comprising millions. The result of such an innovative approach to safety: The IS features a class-leading [*] standard 10-airbag system [*] that includes a side-impact airbag design to help provide additional support for the torso and upper arm.

[*] 2014 IS vs. 2013 competitors based on Near-Luxury Class sedans. [*] All the airbag (AB) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child sea in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. Pre-Collision System
The available Advanced Pre-Collision System (PCS) [*] is engineered to detect an imminent frontal collision and, while retracting the front seatbelts, automatically help to provide increased braking pressure the moment you step on the brake pedal. And, if you fail to apply the brakes, it's designed to automatically begin braking to help reduce impact speed.

[*] Advanced Pre-Collision System is designed to help reduce the crash speed and damage in certain frontal collisions only. Driver Attention Monitor is designed to alert the driver if a potential hazard is detected ahead and the driver's face appears to be turned away. They are not collision-avoidance systems and are not substitues for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors. See Owner's Manual for details.
