Exterior
Exterior Paint
After the mid-coat is applied, many vertical surfaces of the HS 250h receive an additional round of wet polishing by hand. The result is a premium exterior finish with outstanding gloss and texture.
Aerodynamic Design Return to top.
Its remarkably low 0.27 drag coefficient places the HS among the most
aerodynamic cars in its class. Engineers meticulously examined the
movement of air, whether it flowed over the exterior, below the underfloor or
through the air passages. Beneath the HS Hybrid, custom-molded panels,
deflect wind and streamline the undercarriage. In addition, the front
spoiler, rear spoiler, rear underspoiler and diffuser fins all reduce
turbulence. Efficiency wasn't the only area that benefited from this
scrutiny. The more aerodynamic design also means less wind noise.
Smart Access
SmartAccess
[1]
[2]
recognizes two different drivers' Smart Access keys and recalls their desired climate control and memory settings. For added convenience, touch-sensitive door handles let you lock the door simply by touching the door handle.
[1]
The SmartAccess system may interfere with some pacemakers or cardiac defibrillators. If you have one of these medical devices, please talk to your doctor to see if you should deactivate this system.

The engine immobilizer is a state-of-the-art anti-theft system. When you insert your key into the ignition switch or bring a SmartAccess fob into the vehicle, the key transmits an electronic code to the vehicle. The engine will only start if the code in the transponder chip inside the key or SmartAccess fob matches the code in the vehicle's immobilizer. Because the transponder chip is embedded in the key or SmartAccess fob, it can be costly to replace. If you lose a key or SmartAccess fob, your Lexus dealer can help. Alternatively, you can find a qualified independent locksmith to perform high-security key services by consulting your local Yellow Pages or by contacting www.aloa.org.
Intelligent High-Beam Headlamps
Helps enhance safety for both you and other drivers, available intelligent high-beam headlamps
[1]
dim when other cars approach, or when you come up behind slower traffic.
[1]
The intelligent high-beam headlamps can help improve vision at night. However, conditions such as a dirty windshield, rapidly changing light conditions or hilly terrain will limit effectiveness so the driver may need to manually change the high beams from on to off. Please see Owners Manual for details.
LED Headlamps
The available Light-Emitting Diode (LED) low-beam headlamps require 30% less
power than conventional headlights. Not only are these headlamps more
efficient, each is fitted with three LED lights and has a distinctive blue tint,
giving the vehicle a more modern appearance. LED taillamps require 70%
less power to illuminate and lights up quicker than conventional bulbs.
Advanced Glass Materials
For better visibility when it's raining, water-repellent glass makes water bead
up and roll of the front-door glass and the outside mirrors. In addition,
acoustic windshield glass and optimally positioned sound-insulation materials
help ensure exceptional quietness.
